The battle for the top four heats up on Sunday as Tottenham Hotspur travel to Villa Park to try and close the increasing gap in points between the two clubs.

Aston Villa have created a five-point cushion, nearly cementing their position in fourth place with just 11 games left to play in the current Premier League season. However, Tottenham have a game in hand.

Unai Emery has not only revived Aston Villa but could also take them back to the Champions League for the first time in over four decades. The team is in great shape, having won four of their last five league games and ten of the 13 games played at Villa Park this season.

Tottenham head into Sunday’s clash after a welcome victory in the London derby against Crystal Palace last weekend. After having slumped to a 1-2 defeat against Wolves the week before that. Ange Postecoglou's men have won three of their last five league games.

Spurs have a game in hand against London rivals Chelsea and if they win that game and defeat Villa, they will go one point clear of Emery’s side. Though Spurs have not managed to keep a clean sheet in their last five matches, Heung Min-Son has created the second-most big chances in the league this season.

Postecoglou's side have only lost twice away from home in the current Premier League season, which is the fewest away losses for any side in the league. On the other hand, though, they have only won one of the last six away games.

The odds are in favour of Emery’s Villa securing all three points at their home ground. However, a surprise resurgence from Spurs is possible. In the last five meetings between these two teams, Villa have won all of their previous three, with Spurs winning the two before that.
