Arsenal are looking to get their campaign back on track when they host Real Madrid in the league phase of the UEFA Women's Champions League.

The hosts will be keen to make their home games count, while the  Spaniards have done some good work on their travels. Both teams have quality going forward and could serve up a thrilling contest.

Arsenal Women News

It has been a disappointing title defence so far for Arsenal, who have picked up just one win and suffered two defeats in their opening three league phase matches. They were beaten 3-2 at Bayern Munich in their previous fixture despite holding a two-goal lead at the break.

Arsenal's overall form has been unconvincing lately, having failed to win their last three matches across all competitions, playing out a 0-0 draw at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Having been on the road in their last two matches, Renee Slegers' team return to Meadow Park, where they are unbeaten in five of their last six matches.

The WSL side often make fast starts, grabbing the first goal in the first half in two of their three Champions League matches, while also scoring over 1.5 goals in two of those three fixtures. Two of those three matches have also produced over 1.5 goals in the first half.

Real Madrid Women News

Real Madrid dropped points for the first time in the league phase after being held to a 1-1 home draw by Paris FC in their previous fixture. The good news for Pau Quesada's team is that they remain unbeaten in the competition, having won their opening two matches.

The Spaniards' are enjoying a fine overall campaign and are unbeaten in nine of their last 10 matches across all competitions. They are also unbeaten in six of their last eight away matches but suffered a 4-0 defeat at Barcelona in a domestic fixture last weekend.

The defeat to Barcelona highlights a defensive vulnerability that can be exploited by top sides, although Real Madrid can also hold their own going forward. Three of their last four away matches across all competitions have produced over 1.5 goals in the first half.

Head to Head

The only two previous matches between Arsenal and Real Madrid came last season, with each team winning their home clash. The Spaniards' claimed a 2-0 victory in the first meeting while the hosts triumphed 3-0 in the second leg.
