A place in the quarter-finals is the prize as Algeria face DR Congo in an Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 clash at the Stade Prince Moulay Hassan.

The Fennecs were impressive in the group stage and are still maintaining a perfect record in the competition. Although the Leopards also had a solid group phase campaign, they often struggle in this fixture and could be in for a difficult time on Tuesday.

It was an impressive group stage campaign for Algeria, who were dominant throughout. The 2019 champions finished with a perfect record of three wins from three matches in Group E.

Algeria come into this clash off the back of a 3-1 victory over Equatorial Guinea in their final group stage outing. The impressive thing about that result is that they made wholesale changes to the team, with the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Ramy Bensebaini rested for the clash.

Goals have not been a problem for Algeria as they are driven by Riyad Mahrez, who has found the net three times in the tournament. Vladimir Petkovic's team have also scored at least one first-half goal in all three matches.

Football in DR Congo has been on the rise lately, evidenced by their recent performances. They could be on their way to their first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance after reaching the playoffs and are now through to the AFCON round of 16.

DR Congo were solid during the group stage as they went unbeaten to finish second in Group D. However, unlike the Algerians, Sebastien Desabre's team did not secure a perfect record, having earned two wins from three matches.

The Leopards have shown some attacking quality in this competition, with two of their last three matches producing over 0.5 first half goals. They claimed a 3-0 victory over Botswana in their final group stage fixture.

DR Congo's matches seem to produce early goals, and that trend is likely to continue here. Algeria often make fast starts and, having scored at least one first-half goal in their three group stage matches, a repeat is on the cards.

The Leopards are enjoying a fine tournament, but could struggle against the superior quality of Algeria. The Fennecs are on a three-match winning run and should come out on top in this one.
