AC Milan will be aiming to tighten their grip at the summit of the Italian Serie A when they host Pisa on Friday.

The Rossoneri are the team to beat at the moment and have been particularly impressive at home. They should have too much quality for the newly-promoted side, who have looked out of their depth in the topflight.

AC Milan have looked a different side since suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Cremonese on the opening weekend. They are unbeaten in their last seven matches across all competitions, picking up six wins on this run.

That fine run means AC Milan are now the side at the top of Serie A, holding a one-point lead over Inter Milan. The Rossoneri have also won their last four home matches across all competitions, including a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina last time out in the league.

AC Milan will be keen to make a fast start on Friday and have scored the opening goal in three of their last five matches. Massimiliano Allegri's team have also won the first half in those three matches while a couple of 3-0 victories over Lecce and Udinese are also among their results.

In contrast to AC Milan's fine showings this season, Pisa have found things difficult in Serie A so far. They are currently wallowing at the foot of the table, having failed to secure a single win this term.

Pisa were held to a 0-0 home draw by Verona in their previous Serie A fixture as they failed to muster a single attempt on target throughout the contest. That result highlights the attacking problems plaguing Alberto Gilardino's team this season, and they have failed to score in their last four league matches.

Things are just as bad on the road for Pisa, who have lost their last three away matches across all competitions. Their heaviest defeat of the season has come on their travels, a 4-0 thrashing at Bologna in their previous fixture away from home.

The only two matches between AC Milan and Pisa came during the 1990-91 season, with the host earning 1-0 victories in both fixtures.

AC Milan are expected to be dominant from the start and having scored the opening goal in three of their last five matches, a repeat could be considered. The hosts have also led at the break in those three fixtures and could be set for a halftime win.

Among the results for AC Milan this season are back-to-back 3-0 victories over Lecce and Udinese. Given Pisa’s 4-0 defeat to Bologna in their last away fixture, the Rossoneri could be backed in the handicap market.
