Poland without Jeremy Sochan at EuroBasket 2025
The Polish national team has suffered a major blow ahead of EuroBasket 2025 - San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan will miss the tournament due to a calf injury sustained during training with the national team.
The injury occurred in one of the preparation sessions, and detailed medical examinations showed that the recovery would take longer than the time remaining before the start of the championship.
Decision made in consultation with medical teams
According to the Polish federation, the decision for him to withdraw from the squad was made in consultation with the medical staff of both the national team and the NBA club.
While the injury is not severe, playing would carry the risk of aggravation, so full recovery was made the priority.
Returning to the United States for rehabilitation
Sochan is already returning to the United States, where he will continue the rehabilitation process under the supervision of the Spurs’ medical team.
The plan is for him to be ready for the start of the upcoming NBA season, and the player himself stated that he is disappointed to miss the chance to represent Poland but that his health must come first.
Milicic faces tough task without his versatile forward
The absence of the 22-year-old forward will force head coach Igor Milicic to adjust his plans and rotation before the tournament.
Sochan was one of Poland’s key defensive assets and an important presence on the boards, and his contribution in transition and energy on the court will be difficult to replace.
The responsibility will now fall on experienced players like Mateusz Ponitka, as well as younger talents who will get more playing time.
